Our goal with every client is to create a close trusted relationship for life. We assist our clients in a fiduciary capacity with regular contact to ensure our clients receive the best possible care and attention. We serve, and have served, clients in the fiduciary capacity for decades.

An Approach that Works

Dick first began advising clients in 1973. There have been many ups and downs in the markets and more than a few reasons to worry and not invest. In 1973, stagflation and an oil crisis caused the stock market to fall. In 1987, the Savings & Loan crisis preceded a major correction. In 2000, exceptionally high stock valuations (Bubble) led to a major decline. In 2008, an ultra-leveraged housing market led to the mortgage mess that almost toppled our financial system and a 50% drop in the stock market. Just when things seem hopeless and many investors give up, a bottom is formed amid even more discouraging news. We have not been derailed by these events and in fact have used them to pick up shares of great companies at exceptionally attractive prices. Each and every time following these major declines, our markets have recovered to new highs as our capitalistic engine and economy continue to prosper.

One element of our investment style is that we build custom portfolios one company at a time. Instead of trying to predict events or their outcomes, we focus on researching the fundamentals of businesses and investing in them only when they are trading at bargain levels.

The importance of buying businesses below their underlying value is fundamental to our approach. Domestic and world political events, while interesting and important, are not the major factors in our decision to buy stock in a good business at a bargain price.

While our investment style is simple to understand, it is not so easy to implement. Many things often get in the way of investors making good decisions. Emotion and fear often eliminate sound judgment as investors try to predict the future based on current headline news stories and events. This causes many individual and even professional investors to freeze at times of greatest opportunity!

Every client has unique needs and goals. Together, we come up with a plan, create architecture, and then start investing in businesses that fit our parameters. We attempt to minimize risk through a consistent approach with diversified portfolios that help clients achieve their short- and long- term goals.
